Since the beginning of this year, 314Ah battery cells have been in short supply in the global market. Faced with a structural contradiction between a production capacity gap of 300Ah+ cells and a shift in production lines for 500Ah+ cells, leading companies have accelerated the mass production of 500Ah+ cells, achieving scale in the application phase.

 

Large-capacity battery cells significantly reduce the cost per watt-hour by increasing energy density, driving the expansion of energy storage power stations toward the GW level. Driven by a combination of domestic and international demand, industry internal competition, cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and growing demand for long-duration energy storage, 500Ah+ battery cells have become a competitive frontier in energy storage technology.

 

According to data, 500Ah+ large battery cells of leading companies such as EVE Energy, CATL, Envision AESC, and Hithium have been mass-produced. At the same time, 6MWh+ energy storage systems equipped with large-capacity battery cells have been gaining popularity in the domestic market, and have seen a surge in orders worldwide.

 

The rapid growth of the 6.25MWh system in overseas markets is due to the fact that long-duration energy storage has become a immediate needs in many regions around the world.

 

This includes the continued increase in renewable energy in Europe, and the accelerated deployment of long-duration energy storage on the grid side of the world after the major blackout in Spain. In the US market, the upgrade of aging power grids and favorable electricity price policies have driven an increase in demand for long-duration energy storage in core areas such as California and Texas. In the Middle East, large-scale photovoltaic projects in countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates generally require long-duration energy storage of more than four hours.

 

It can be expected that with the iteration of technology and the implementation of more projects, the 6MWh+ system will receive more orders in the future.
